What are Direct Cremations?

Before we learn what Direct Cremations are, it’s important to know what a standard cremation is. A cremation is a process of taking a body and burning it at a high temperature until it turns into ash. Once this has happened you take the ashes and store them in a vessel of your, or your loved ones, choice. In a traditional cremation you can have a service with the body before you take them to the crematorium. However, a Direct Cremation doesn’t hold a celebration or service and the body is simply sent to the crematorium to be burnt.

What plans do we offer?

Traditional Cremations

personalised to reflect the life of the person lost, including funeral arranging and directing fees, a cardboard coffin or a simple coffin.

Includes the use of a hearse and viewing in our chapel of rest, starting from home on the day of the funeral and onto the church or crematorium.
Plus disbursement costs such as church fees, a vicar or celebrant’s fees, order of service and the playing of music, newspaper notice and any flowers.

Simple Cremations 

Our simple cremations are respectfully carried out including a choice of a shroud, cardboard coffin or simple coffin.

The use of a private ambulance instead of a hearse and forgoing viewing in our chapel of rest, taking you directly to the crematorium on the day of the funeral.     
Plus disbursement costs such as church fees, a vicar or celebrant’s fees, order of service and the playing of music, newspaper notice and any flowers.

Express Cremations/ Direct Cremations

Our Direct Cremations are simply laid out for your ease. We know how difficult it can be to gather everyone so having a direct cremation can be beneficial for all. It’s also beneficial if you’re disinterested in having a large gathering and celebration.
